Today, at the Flea Market, I spotted this beauty:
It was maked as $35, but being a flea market I bought it for $30.
There are some troublesome cracks. Woodstain and remnant stickers have been nicked away over the years. The strings (and tuning nuts) are dark-brown with rust.
However, after spending an hour tuning each of the 37 strings, I was able to get some very nice sounding chords out of it. And with just the touch of a button.
How I am planning on refurbishing this old autoharp:
Buying and intalling replacment strings
Refinish the body with new woodstain and varnish
Get some felt and create some useful chord bars (B flat Major but no B, D or E Major?)
